Academic And Professional Experience

Professor Angela Ng is the Assistant Vice-President for Institutional Advancement (Global Engagement) at The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST). In this role, she is responsible for enhancing the University’s global presence, strengthening strategic international partnerships, and advancing HKUST’s influence across education, research, and innovation.

Trained as an economist and finance scholar, Professor Ng began her academic career at HKUST’s Department of Finance and has since taken on a range of leadership roles across the University. She combines academic expertise with extensive leadership experience in higher education across academic administration, global engagement, education innovation, and institutional strategy.

At HKUST, Professor Ng has held several senior positions, including Associate Dean of the Business School and Director of Undergraduate Recruitment and Admissions. As Associate Dean, she led major initiatives in undergraduate education, including the founding of the World Bachelor in Business (WBB) program – a pioneering tri-continental undergraduate collaboration with the University of Southern California and Bocconi University. She also played a key role in strengthening the University’s student recruitment, admissions, and global outreach efforts, with a strong emphasis on talent diversity and the overall student experience.

Prior to rejoining HKUST, Professor Ng was the Associate Dean at CUHK Business School, where she established and led the Global Engagement Office, driving the school’s internationalization strategy, institutional partnerships, and global branding. She subsequently served as Academic Dean at the Hong Kong Management Association, contributing to the development of professional and executive education in Hong Kong. In recent years, she has also been actively involved in education innovation, supporting EdTech startups and NGOs on digital learning initiatives. Throughout her career, Professor Ng has been committed to creating meaningful educational opportunities for students and fostering connections between universities, industry, and the wider community.

Beyond her work in higher education, she is active in public and community service and currently serves on the Veterinary Surgeons Board of Hong Kong and the Community Chest of Hong Kong.
