Program Transfer Application

HKUST students who already have their first majors but consider changing their first majors to FINA can apply for a program transfer.

Program transfer application will only be considered by the end of student’s Year 2 Fall or Year 2 Spring term for cross-School transfer. For SBM students who wish to transfer to FINA, application will only be considered in or after student’s 4th term. In addition, the program transfer applications are considered after the main round of major selection exercise is completed so that it is fair to all students as such requests should normally be accepted when there is still quota left for the intake cohort.

Program Transfer to FINA is only considered on a case-by-case basis. Applicants must achieve a minimum BCGA of 3.0 in the latest academic year/semester, and taken FINA 2203 for non-SBM students/FINA 2303 for SBM students in order to be considered. In addition, applicants must be

  • able to demonstrate strong interest in finance.
  • possess abilities to succeed in finance-related career
  • possess abilities to perform well academically in FINA Program.

PBA students who want to apply for program transfer to BBA FINA before the end of the add/drop period of the fourth term has to do so by joining the Major Selection Exercise.
